York: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
With its fine mix of high quality housing York is a busy area for plaster coving, we are in the area delivering at least once a week. We use our own vans and drivers to make sure our coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will also check it is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use. This is especially important on busy building sites.
All our coving is still made by hand, we use the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, each ceiling rose or length of cornice is individually moulded, the entire process from start to finish is completed by hand.
Here are a few suggestions for cornice, these are designs that have always sold well in York and are a good place to start to look, especially if you are not familiar with the names of some of the different types of cornice. In York’s fine Victorian terraces a swan neck cornice is a very popular choice, the name comes from the fact that the cornice extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, this will be a familiar style to anyone who likes Victorian houses. We have a full range of sizes at one end LPC017 is a large swan neck cornice for the bigger rooms and higher ceilings of the grander houses, LPC030 and MPC065 are two smaller sizes, between the three of them there should be something for everyone, If you would like something more ornate LPC019 and LPC021 are worth looking at. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice to complete the room, or again if you are looking for something more ornate LPR060 is hard to beat.
LPC015 is also a very popular choice. It is not tied to any period, it is simply a very stylish cornice that will improve wherever it is fitted. It is very popular with twentieth century properties of every type. Samples of all our coving are available from the individual product pages, where you will also see hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations, the majority of these pictures have been sent in by our customers, and are the best way to get a feel for how a specific cornice will actually look when installed in your home. It is amazing just how different the same cornice can look, depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished. These are only a few examples please look through the whole range, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to fit your coving, not only will the finished result be better, it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with walls that are not straight and ceilings that are not level, especially in older houses, these things are just part of the job. The inexperienced can have real problems with these, meaning they are able to fit far less coving in a day and what they do fit, is not always fitted to a decent standard.
We have good links with local tradesmen and can put you in touch if needed. If you have any other questions or would like any further information, please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
What a truly stunning glow up this homeowner has achieved in York. This customer wanted to reinstate some classic features in their Victorian semi. The pictures above show the room before and after installation of our ceiling rose (MPR061) and coving (LPC030).
Once professionally installed, the results are simply stunning. The ceiling rose and coving provide a precise, awe-inspiring foundation that are designed to last a lifetime with a timeless appeal and durability.
