St Helens: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to the St Helens area at least once a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order, our warehouse is in Stockport, just off junction 28 of the M60 and many customers prefer to collect their orders. You can also place and pay for an order at the warehouse and take your coving away with you all in one visit, we are open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

If you would prefer a delivery, we use our own vans and drivers to ensure coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will check it is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use. This is particularly important on crowded or busy building sites.

All our coving is still made by hand using exactly the same methods and materials that were used in Victorian times, each piece of coving or ceiling rose is individually moulded, the whole process from start to finish is done entirely by hand. We keep large stocks of finished coving so that we can supply even the biggest orders in a matter of days rather than weeks.

St Helens became a major industrial center in Victorian times and large scale building took place to house the ever growing numbers of workers in the Glass and Mining industries. Originally all of St Helens's Victorian and Edwardian houses would have had plaster coving and ceiling roses, fortunately most of this has survived, where it has not we have worked on renovations and restorations. One of the most popular cornice designs has been Swan Neck Coving, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. Swan neck coving was used extensively in Victorian and Edwardian times; its distinctive profile will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with older properties.

LPC030 is one of the larger sizes of swan neck cornice we make, its suitable for the higher than average ceilings of most Victorian houses, if you have a lower ceiling height perhaps in upstairs rooms MPC065 has the same style with smaller proportions, A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 goes well with either of these.

We don't just make cornice for older properties, we also work on many of St Helens's houses built since the 1930s, very popular here, are designs such as LPC015, a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with a good ceiling height. If you have low ceilings MPC046 has just as much style with smaller proportions.

Samples of all our designs are available on the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life settings, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to see how a particular design would look in your own home. It is surprising just how different the same design can look depending on how a room has been furnished and decorated. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving not only will the finish be better it should also be cheaper. They have no problems with walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, corners that are not right angles and cornice that is patterned, all these things are just part of the job especially in older houses, where walls are seldom straight.

We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch, if you have any other questions it would like any other information, please give our customer services team a ring they will be happy to talk to you.
