Perth: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses to Perth and the surrounding area roughly once a week, so there is never a long wait for delivery after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers for deliveries to ensure everything arrives in good condition.  Our drivers will check that coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready to be used, this is important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.

We still make all our plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses by hand using the same materials, processes and techniques that were used in Victorian times, plaster cornice is made in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each one individually moulded, each of our ceiling roses is also individually made. We keep large stocks of finished cornice and ceiling roses so that we are able to meet even the largest orders in a matter of days.

Perth was the capital of Scotland for 300 years and had by the eighteenth century become a flourishing inland port, specialising in weaving linen and cotton and later whisky blending, the wealth from these businesses financed the city's elegant Georgian townhouses and terraces. The railway arrived in the mid nineteenth century and Perth became an important transport hub. The Victorian era saw the construction of many fine public buildings such as the Perth Theatre and the building of fine Victorian Villas in the hills surrounding the city.

Today, Perth has a fine mix of housing from the Georgian period and earlier through to modern developments. There are many quality Victorian and Edwardian houses and we have worked on the renovations of quite a number of these. Always popular for the restoration of Victorian houses is Swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it reaches down the wall. It was a cornice used widely in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, with larger houses just having a larger version of essentially the same design. Whilst the name may be unfamiliar the cornice will be recognisable to anybody familiar with older houses. LPC017 is one of our larger swan neck plaster cornices and is ideal for the high ceilings of larger Victorian detached and semi detached houses, with LPC030 and MPC065 suitable for above average and average height ceilings respectively. If you need a ceiling rose, a plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 goes well with any Victorian cornice, or if you are looking for something more ornate, LPR060 is a finely modelled original Victorian plaster ceiling rose, featuring a bold acanthus leaf design.

We don't just make plaster cornice for period properties, we have a complete range covering all ages and styles of house. Cornices such as LPC015 which looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights, it's not a design tied to any particular period and will add style wherever it is fitted, it is particularly popular for properties built from the 1920s onwards, if you do not have the ceiling height MPC046 has just as much impact and has smaller proportions.

Samples of all our plaster coving are available off the individual product pages on the website, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our ceiling roses and plaster cornice in real life settings. These photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an impression of how a particular cornice or ceiling rose would look in your own home. It is always surprising how the same cornice or ceiling rose can look in two different rooms depending on the style in which the room has been decorated and furnished.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your coving not only will the end result be better, it should also be cheaper. They will not have difficulties caused by walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, mitres that are not right angles, not to mention a cornice with a pattern on it. All these things are just normal parts of the job and to be expected especially when working on older houses, where very few things are level or straight.

We have good contacts with fitters in most areas and can put you in contact if required, if you have any other questions or would like any further information or advice, please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to help you.
