Halesowen: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver Plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses to Halesowen and throughout the black country at least twice a week, so there is never long to wait for a delivery after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to ensure our coving arrives in good condition. Our drivers will check that coving and ceiling roses are handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy building sites where space may be tight and damage can occur.
All our plaster cornice and ceiling roses are made by hand, we still use the same materials and practices that were used in Victorian times. Each piece of cornice is individually moulded in a 8 foot (2.4M) length, and each ceiling rose is also individually cast. We keep large quantities of plaster cornice and thousands of ceiling roses in stock so that we can meet even the largest orders in a matter of days not weeks.
Halesowen was an ecclesiastical centre throughout the middle ages and a centre for nail making in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Halesowen then expanded rapidly during the industrial revolution fuelled by the large deposits of coal, part of the industrial powerhouse that was the ‘black country’ when it was described as being ‘black by day and red by night’ with the glow from its many large ironworks. New housing was required for its ever growing population with terraced Victorian housing for the workers and fine villas for the factory owners and professional classes.
Today, Halesowen has a mixture of Victorian and later properties, and we have worked on the renovation of many Victorian and Edwardian houses. Always popular for these restoration projects has been swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling then it does down the wall, it was widely used in Victorian times and through into the Edwardian era. Whilst many people won't recognise the name they will instantly recognise the cornice when they see it.
LPC017 is one of our larger swan neck cornices sized for the high ceilings of Victorian detached and semi detached houses, MPC065 is a smaller size suitable for average height ceilings, perhaps for the upstairs rooms of older houses or for creating a Victorian feel in a modern house with their lower ceilings, LPC030 will work for everything in between. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 will complement any swan neck cornice, or if you would prefer something more ornate LPR026 is a popular Victorian sunflower design.
We don't just make plaster coving and ceiling rose for older houses, we make a full range of cornice for all ages and types of property. Designs such as LPC015 which looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights, while MPC046 and MPC053 will give a room just as much style if you don't have the ceiling height.
Samples of all our plaster cornice are available off the individual product pages, also on these pages are hundreds of pictures of our coving and ceiling roses in real life settings these photographs have been sent in by our customers and they are the best way to get an true impression of how a particular design would actually look in your own home. The same ceiling rose or cornice can look completely different depending on the style in which a room has been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the finish be better it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with ceilings that are not level or walls that are not straight, not to mention corners that are not right angles, these are all normal parts of the job especially when working on older houses.
We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch. If you have any other questions or would like any other information or advice please give our customer services team a call, they will be happy to talk to you.
