Dudley: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving to the Dudley area around twice a week, so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to ensure our coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will also check that coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites, where accidents can happen.
All our plaster coving and ceiling roses are hand made, each length of coving and each ceiling rose is individually moulded, using the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times, the whole process from start to finish is done entirely by hand. If you would like to see a video of one of our ceiling roses being made please follow this link. We keep large quantities of finished coving in stock, so that we are able to deliver even the largest orders in a matter of days rather than weeks.
The West Midlands leading role in the Industrial revolution created an ever increasing demand for housing as the numbers of workers increased, leading to large amounts of housing being built in the Victorian period in areas such as Dudley. All these houses would originally have had plaster coving and ceiling roses and fortunately much of this has survived, where it has not not we have worked on many of the restorations and renovations.
A popular choice for these projects is Swan Neck Coving, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, this is a classic Victorian design that was used well into the Edwardian period and will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older properties. We have a number of sizes, LPC017 is one of the larger ones ideal for the higher than average height ceilings of many Victorian properties, for rooms with lower ceilings MPC065 brings exactly the same style. To complete the room a plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice or for something more ornate LPR060 is a classic Victorian design featuring that great favourite of the period, Acanthus leaves.
We don't just make plaster coving for older houses, we have a wide range of designs for all types of properties, LPC015 is a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with a reasonable ceiling height, it is especially popular for houses built from the 1920’s onwards and is often chosen for new builds, for those with lower ceilings perhaps in flats or where the ceilings have been lowered in the past, MPC046 creates just as much impact in a a smaller size.
Samples of all our designs can be ordered off the individual product pages, these pages also have hundreds of photographs of our coving in real life situations, these pictures have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an idea of how a particular design would look in your own home, it is surprising just how different the same cornice can look depending on how a room has been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, they will not have problems with walls that are not straight ceilings that are not level, matching patterns, or corners that are not right angles, things that are just part of the job, especially with older houses. The finished result will be better and should also be cheaper as they are able to get much more done in a day.
We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in contact if needed. If you have any other questions or would like any other information, please call our customer services team. They will be happy to talk to you.

With its everlasting aesthetic this cornice has enriched this customer's bedroom providing it with a clean and polished finish. Our Swan Neck Plaster coving MPC065 naturally nods to a Victorian era but is also suitable for more modern aesthetics since the design has been widely used and varied over the last few centuries. This Style of coving seemingly elevates any room but is best suited for rooms with low-medium ceilings. For medium-high ceilings consider our LPC030 which is identical in it's profile but with a larger drop and projection.
