Bradford: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to Bradford at least twice a week, so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers for deliveries to make sure coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites.

Our warehouse is in Stockport just off junction 28 of the M60 you can also collect orders from here, or if you prefer you can visit the warehouse order and pay for your coving and take it away all in one visit, we are open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

We make all our plaster coving by hand using the same methods and materials that were used in Victorian times, each length of coving and each ceiling rose is individually moulded, the whole process from start to finish is all done by hand. We keep large amounts of finished coving in stock allowing us to meet even the biggest orders in a matter of days rather than weeks.

Bradford was known as the ‘Wool Capital of the World’, and grew rapidly in the 1800’s, the expanding textile mills required workers and the workers needed houses. All this growth created wealth and many fine houses and public buildings were built in the Victorian period, along with large amounts of housing for the factory workers.

The Victorians loved decorative plasterwork and all these houses and buildings would once have had plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses, corbels and panel mouldings along with matching timber mouldings. Fortunately most of this plasterwork has survived where it has not we have worked on some of the restorations and renovations.

One of the most popular cornices for these renovations is Swan Neck Cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, its a classic Victorian design whose distinctive profile will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with older houses. LPC017 is one of our larger sizes of swan neck coving and is suitable to for the high ceilings of Victorian houses, if your ceilings are of average height MPC065 is the right size and if they are lower as they sometimes are if they have been over boarded SPC070 may be suitable. If you are looking for something more ornate LPC019 is a fantastic Victorian cornice design and LPR060 a finely detailed ceiling rose.

We don't just make plaster coving for older houses, we make a complete range for all ages and types of property. Designs such as LPC015 a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with an average or above ceiling height, very popular for properties built from 1930s onwards. If you have lower ceilings perhaps in an apartment MPC046 has just as much style with smaller proportions. A plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073 is a good match for either of these.

Samples of all our coving can be ordered off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life settings, most of these photographs have been sent in by our customers, they are the best way to see how a particular design would actually look if fitted in your own home. It is surprising just how different the same cornice can look depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced cornice ditters to install your coving, not only will it look better when finished it should also be cheaper. Experienced fitters do not have difficulties with walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, corners that are not right angles and coving with patterns. All these things are just part of the job especially with older houses, we have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch if needed.

If you have any other questions or would like any further information please call our customer services team they will be happy to talk to you.
