Bowdon: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to the Bowden, Hale and Altrincham areas at least once a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order. If you would like to collect your coving, our warehouse is in Stockport just off junction 28 of the M60, open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.  Many people prefer to come to the warehouse to look at samples and once they have chosen their cornice, pay for it and take it away with them, all in one visit.

All our plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses are still made by hand using the same materials and techniques used in Victorian times, each ceiling rose or length of cornice is individually moulded, the entire process from start to finish is completed entirely by hand. We keep large quantities of finished cornice in stock, and are able to supply even the largest orders in a matter of days, rather than weeks.

Bowden’s fine Victorian architecture means that some types of cornice are more popular than others, if you are not sure where to start looking or are unsure of the name of a certain style you have seen, here are some of the designs that are consistently popular in the area.

Swan Neck Cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, was widely used in Victorian times through to the Edwardian era. It is a style that will be instantly recognisable to anyone who knows Victorian houses, we have a range of sizes. LPC017 is a large swan neck cornice suitable for rooms with high ceilings, typical of larger Victorian houses, LPC030 and LPC072 are other alternatives, for lower ceilings in bedrooms or smaller houses MPC065 will add the same Victorian style. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 will go well with any of these, or for something more ornate LPR060 is a fine Victorian design.

For newer properties LPC015 is a good choice; it is very stylish and looks good anywhere with average and above average ceiling heights, it is very popular for new builds and extensions.

Samples of all our cornice can be ordered off the individual product pages, also on these pages are hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations,  mostly these photos have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an accurate impression of how a particular design would look in your own house. It is amazing how different the same design can look depending on the way in which the room has been furnished and decorated, you can also come to the warehouse to look at samples.

We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the finish be better, it should also be cheaperl, they will have no difficulties with ceilings that are not level and walls that are not straight and corners that are not right angles, all things that are just part of the job especially on older houses. As a result they will get more cornice fitted in a day, and what they do fit will be fitted to a higher standard.

We have good contacts with experienced local fitters and can put you in touch, if you have any other questions or require any further information, please call our customer services team they will be happy to talk to you.
