Alnwick: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to Alnwick and throughout the North East at least once a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers for deliveries, the fragile nature of our products means that there are no courier companies who can deliver them safely at anything like a sensible price. Our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely, this is particularly important on busy building sites where space can be short and damage can sometimes occur after delivery.

We still make all our plaster cornice and ceiling roses by hand using traditional methods and materials, techniques that have not changed since the Victorian period, a time from which we have many original designs. Plaster cornice is moulded in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each one of them, individually made by hand. If you do decide to order coving, please remember it is priced and sold by the meter not the length, just enter the number of meters you need and we will do the rest, thanks.

With its long history Alnwick has a wonderful mix of properties of all ages and types from grand Georgian and Victorian town houses to modern detached and period cottages. Plaster cornice became widely used in the nineteenth century when it became possible to manufacture it off site in the way that we do today, rather than manufacture it in-situ as it had been done in the past. This led to the incorporation of decorative plasterwork in the vast majority of houses built from the Victorian period through into the Edwardian era.

Very popular in Victorian and Edwardian times and still popular today is the swan neck profile. Swan neck coving was used throughout Victorian England with larger slightly more ornate versions being used as the size of rooms and ceiling heights increased. LPC017 is one of our larger swan neck cornices and suitable for the higher ceilings of detached and larger semi detached Victorian and Edwardian houses. MPC065 our best selling swan neck cornice has smaller proportions suited to average height ceilings, it is often chosen for more modern properties where customers wish to create a period feel to their home. A plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073 will go well with any Victorian cornice, or for something more ornate LPR060 is a fine Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves.

Along with our period designs we have a full range of cornice and ceiling roses to suit properties of all ages and types, designs such as LPC015 an elegant cornice that will add style to any room with average and above ceiling heights, not tied to any particular period it is frequently chosen for more modern properties, or MPC046 which has just as much impact, but comes in a smaller size for those with lower ceilings.

Samples of all our coving are available off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving and ceiling roses in real life situations, all these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are a great way to get inspiration and to see what a particular design would actually look like in your own home. The same cornice can look completely different depending on how a room has been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your cornice, they will not have problems with bay windows, ceiling that are not level or walls that are not straight, all things that are just part of the job. They will work to a higher standard usually at a better price, as they are able to work faster. We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in contact if required.

If you have any other questions or would like any further information or advice, please give our customer services team a call. They have years of experience between them and are always happy to help.
