Victorian Swan Neck Cornice 130mm LPC018
Drop: 120mmProjection: 205mm
Swan neck cornice was used extensively throughout the Victorian period and through into the Edwardian era. It was used across all types of houses, and as a general rule, the larger the room and the higher the ceilings, a larger and more detailed the Swan neck cornice was chosen.
this large swan neck cornice is one of a number of original Victorian patterns that we still make, characterised by a flatter profile against the wall and ceiling, and a deeper cove that is nearer to a complete circle than our other large swan neck cornices, LPC017 and LPC073
Once fitted, this cornice is indistinguishable from a Victorian original. In fact, it's exactly the same, and as can be seen from the pictures opposite, it has been used in the restoration of many fine Victorian and Edwardian properties. A large swan-neck cornice like this is also often chosen to add style and grandeur to larger new-built houses.
this cornice looks its best with ceiling heights of 9 to 10 foot plus. However, if you would like the same style but have lower ceilings, we have similar cornices in smaller sizes such as MPC065. This cornice looks good throughout the house, wherever the ceilings are high enough.
Each length of this cornice is individually handmade, using materials and techniques that have remained unchanged since Victorian times.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I ORDER?
If you measure your plaster coving needs and order an exact amount, one wall could end up being finished in small off-cuts. To avoid this, we recommend you order 15% extra to ensure longer lengths are used wherever possible, as this will create a better finish. This coving comes in 2.4m lengths.
