We manufacture this original Georgian cornice in three sizes. This is our largest size with a drop of 140mm, nearly 6 inches, making it ideal for rooms with above-average ceiling heights. Classical architecture was the height of fashion in the Georgian period, and this cornice copies the stone pediments found on ancient Greek and Roman temples, Its individual elements include ogee curves and a drip moulding.

Although plaster cornices such as this came into fashion in the Georgian period, they continued in use throughout the Victorian period and through into the Edwardian era.

The ogee curve was used in internal joinery, such as skirting boards and architraves, from the Georgian period through to the present day, It is also widely used in furniture, both antique and modern.

The result is that many people would not realise that a cornice like this has been in use for as long as it has, matching as it does, so many other elements in the house.

This cornice will not look out of place in any house built during the last 250 years, nor will it look out of place in any room in the house.

We have two other sizes of this cornice:

MPC067 is suitable for ceilings of an average height. SPC024 is suitable for ceilings of a below-average height. This means the same cornice can be used throughout a property, where different ceiling heights on different floors mean a larger or smaller cornice is needed.

As can be seen from the pictures and videos opposite, this cornice can completely transform a room. The before and after video demonstrates this point particularly well.

Like all our plaster coving, each piece of our Regency coving is made entirely by hand using techniques and materials that have remained unchanged since Victorian times.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I ORDER?

If you measure your plaster coving needs and order an exact amount, one wall could end up being finished in small off-cuts. To avoid this, we recommend you order 15% extra to ensure longer lengths are used wherever possible, as this will create a better finish. This coving comes in 2.4m lengths.

Product Questions

Answers to common questions about sizing, delivery, and suitability.

What are the Dimensions of this Product ?

Coving projection and drop are the two essential measurements for installation: the projection is the distance the coving extends across the ceiling from the wall, while the drop is the vertical distance it extends down the wall from the ceiling.

For this product, the projection and drop are measured in millimetres:

  • Projection: 150mm
  • Drop: 140mm

How quickly can I have delivery ?

We use our own vans and drivers to deliver coving. Our products are fragile and need to be handled carefully.

Using our own transport ensures your coving arrives in good condition and customers are kept up to date with progress on the day of delivery. We deliver to the vast majority of the UK within five working days, often sooner.

If you live in an isolated area, deliveries will be less frequent than somewhere like the centre of London, where we have multiple vans every day. If you have an urgent delivery requirement, please call our customer services team at 0333 043 1471, who will be able to tell you our latest delivery schedules.

Alternatively, you can check this nationwide uk coving delivery index for typical delivery times to your area.
