The great key design comes from the temples of Ancient Greece. It was adopted by the Romans and then in Georgian times became popular, when all things classical, especially from ancient Rome, were considered the height of fashion.

You can still see the Greek key design on the exterior of many buildings from the Georgian and Victorian periods.

Although a design dating back several thousand years (as can be seen from the pictures opposite), it does not look out of place at all, in a modern contemporary styled home. With very few people realising just how old the design actually is.

This Greek key cornice has an 100mm or four-inch drop, which makes it a good size for ceilings of around average height, and therefor a popular choice for modern properties. Though it would not look out of place in any house dating back to the Georgian period.

It is one of those designs that can be used throughout the house, looking good in every room.

A popular choice of ceiling rose to match this cornice is a plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073.

We make all our plaster coving by hand. Each length is individually moulded, using the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I ORDER?

If you measure your plaster coving needs and order an exact amount, one wall could end up being finished in small off-cuts. To avoid this, we recommend you order 15% extra to ensure longer lengths are used wherever possible, as this will create a better finish. This coving comes in 2.3m lengths.

Please remember, our coving is priced and ordered by the metre, not per length. Prices include VAT.

Product Questions

What are the Dimensions of this Product ?

Coving projection and drop are the two essential measurements for installation: the projection is the distance the coving extends across the ceiling from the wall, while the drop is the vertical distance it extends down the wall from the ceiling.

How quickly can I have delivery ?

We use our own vans and drivers to deliver coving. Our products are fragile and need to be handled carefully.

Using our own transport ensures your coving arrives in good condition and customers are kept up to date with progress on the day of delivery. We deliver to the vast majority of the UK within five working days, often sooner.

If you live in an isolated area, deliveries will be less frequent than somewhere like the centre of London, where we have multiple vans every day. If you have an urgent delivery requirement, please call our customer services team at 0333 043 1471, who will be able to tell you our latest delivery schedules.

Alternatively, you can check this nationwide uk coving delivery index for typical delivery times to your area.
