Wolverhampton: Plaster Coving, Cornice & Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving to the Wolverhampton area at least twice a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to make sure our coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will also check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use. This is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.
All our plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses are hand made, we still use the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times. Each 2.4 meter length of coving or ceiling rose is individually moulded, the whole process is done entirely by hand. If you would like to see how this is done please follow this link to a video of one of our ceiling roses being made. We keep large amounts of finished coving in stock, so we are able to deliver even the largest of orders in a couple of days rather than weeks.
Wolverhampton was one of the powerhouses of the industrial revolution from its earliest days, and its rapid expansion led to the building of large amounts of housing in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. All these houses would originally have had a full set of plaster and timber mouldings, Plaster cornice and ceiling roses, with matching timber architraves and skirting boards. Fortunately most of these original features have survived where they have not, we have often supplied replacement plaster cornice to the renovation projects.
A popular choice for these Victorian renovations is Swan Neck Cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, it is a classic Victorian cornice design that was used well into the Edwardian era. It will be instantly recognisable to anyone with an interest in older properties. LPC017 is one of our larger swan neck cornices and is suitable for rooms with higher than average ceiling heights, MPC065 is a smaller swan neck cornice for rooms with average ceiling heights, it is often used in bedrooms. A plain spun plaster ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice either of these cornices to complete the room.
We don't just make plaster coving for older properties we have a full range, which covers all styles and periods. LPC015 for example is a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with a reasonable ceiling height, it is most popular for houses built from the 1920’s onwards and is also chosen for many new builds. If you have lower ceilings, MPC046 is equally stylish, in a smaller size.
Samples of all our coving are available on the individual product pages, also on these pages are hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an idea of how a particular design would actually look if installed in your own home. It is always surprising just how different the same design can look depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished. Plaster coving samples only take a couple of days to arrive.
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the work be done to a higher standard it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with corners that are not right angles, walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level or coving with a pattern on it, all things that are just part of the job, especially with older houses. As a result they will get more coving fitted in a day and it will be fitted to a higher standard.
We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in contact. If you have any other questions or would like any more information about anything on our website, please give our customer services team a call and they will be happy to talk to you.
