Windsor: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses to Windsor and the surrounding area at least once a week, so there is not a long wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to make deliveries so we can be sure our products arrive in good condition, our drivers will check that the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites, where damage can occur.
We make all our plaster coving and ceiling roses by hand, using the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, cornice is made in 8 foot (2.4 meter) lengths, each length is individually cast as are all our plaster ceiling roses, they are genuine handmade products. We keep large amounts of plaster coving and ceiling roses in stock so that we can meet even the biggest orders in a matter of days.
Windsor's history dates back to Saxon times and its royal connections back to William the Conqueror who built a castle overlooking the river, on what is now the site of Windsor castle. Windsor expanded quickly in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In 1824 a cast iron bridge was built across the river and in 1844 the railway arrived, connecting Windsor directly with London and transforming it into a highly desirable residential and commuter town.
Today, Windsor has a mixture of elegant period properties and quality new housing. The many fine Victorian and Edwardian houses would all have originally had decorative plaster and timber mouldings when built, fortunately most of this has survived but where it has not we have worked on many of the renovations. Always popular is swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, its distinctive profile will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older houses.
Swan neck coving was used throughout the Victorian period and through into the Edwardian, we have a number of different sizes to suit different ceiling heights. LPC073 is one of our larger swan necks and suitable for the high ceilings (10 foot plus) of many Victorian houses, LPC030 and MPC065 are suitable for above average and average ceiling heights respectively. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice with any swan neck cornice or if you would prefer something more ornate, LPR060 is a fine Victorian ceiling rose featuring acanthus leaves. SB009 and ARC002 are matching Victorian skirting boards and architraves, these can be difficult to find in both a larger size and authentic period design.
We don't just make plaster coving for older properties we have a complete range covering all ages and styles of house. Designs such as LPC015 which looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights, it is popular with owners of properties from the 1920s onwards and is frequently chosen for new builds. If you do not have the ceiling height MPC046 is a smaller cornice that has just as much style, in a smaller size.
Samples of all our cornices are available off the individual product pages, also on these pages are hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an impression of how a particular cornice would look in your own home. It is surprising just how different the same cornice can look depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished, cornice samples only take a couple of days to arrive.
We would suggest you use experienced coving fitters to install your cornice, not only will the end result be better it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with ceilings that are not level, cornice with a pattern on it, corners that are not right angles or walls that are not straight, all these things are just part of the job especially with older houses.
We have good contacts with local tradesmen, if you have any questions or would like any further information or advice please call our customer services team they will be happy to talk to you.
