West Bromwich: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to the West Bromwich area around twice a week, so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to make deliveries to ensure our plaster coving arrives in good condition. Our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.

All our plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses are made by hand, we still use the same techniques and materials used in Victorian times, coving is individually cast in 2.4 meter (8 foot lengths) and each ceiling rose is individually moulded. Here is a video of the entire process, completed entirely by hand.

West Bromwich grew rapidly in the Industrial revolution as a center of heavy industry and many houses were built in the Victorian and Edwardian periods to accommodate the ever growing workforce. All these houses originally had plaster cornice and ceiling roses, fortunately most of this has survived but where it has not, we have often worked on the renovations, supplying authentic period designs which you can not tell apart from the original.

One of the most popular designs for these renovation projects has always been Swan Neck Coving, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. Swan neck cornice is a classic Victorian design that was used well into the Edwardian period and will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with older houses. We have a range of sizes, LPC030 is the ideal size for typical Victorian ceiling heights, which were higher than today's, if your ceilings are lower MPC065 has exactly the same style but in a smaller size. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice to complement any of our Swan neck cornices.

We don't just make plaster coving for older properties, we have a wide range of styles and sizes to suit all types of property. LPC015 is a stylish cornice suitable for rooms with ceilings of average height or above, it is most popular for houses built from the 1920’s onwards, and is regularly chosen for new builds. If your ceilings are lower, MPC046 is always worth considering.

Samples of all our plaster cornice can be ordered off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life settings, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an idea of how a particular cornice would actually look in your own home. It is interesting to see just how different the same cornice can look depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished. Coving samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the end result be better, it should also be cheaper. Experienced fitters will not have any problems with ceilings that are not level, walls that are not straight, corners that are not right angles and cornice with a pattern on it, all these things are just part of the job, especially with older houses. Experienced fitters will fit more coving in a day and the work they do will be to a higher standard.

We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in contact if required. If you have any questions or would like any further information, please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
