Stirling: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver Plaster coving and ceiling roses to Stirling and surrounding area roughly once a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order, we use our own vans and drivers to deliver coving to make sure it arrives in good condition, our drivers will check it is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.

We still make all our plaster cornice and all our ceiling roses by hand, using the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times, cornice is cast in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths , each one individually made as are all our ceiling roses, they are genuinely handmade products.

Stirlings location at the lowest crossing point of the river Forth has made it a significant strategic location since Norman times, control of this crossing being of great military and commercial importance. Today, Stirling has many fine properties, some dating back hundreds of years and many from the Victorian period when it was a great center for commerce. All these properties from the early Victorian period onwards would have originally had full sets of decorative plaster mouldings, plaster cornice, ceiling roses, corbels and panel mouldings, plus matching timber architraves and skirting boards. Fortunately most of this plasterwork has survived but where it has not we have worked on many of the restorations.

Always popular on these renovations is swan neck coving so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, it is a style that was used throughout the Victorian period through into Edwardian era. Swan neck coving will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older houses. LPC017 is one of our larger sizes and is suitable for the high ceilings so typical of Victorian houses, if your ceilings are lower or perhaps for upstairs rooms LPC030 and MPC065 have the right proportions, for above average and averaged height ceilings respectively. A popular ceiling rose with any swan neck cornice is a plain spun rose such as LPR074 or for something more ornate, LPR060 a classic Victorian design of acanthus leaves. We also have a range of high quality timber mouldings, particularly popular are SB009 and ARC002, a large Victorian skirting board and architrave.

We don't just make plaster cornice for older houses we have a range covering all ages and types of house, designs like LPC015, an elegant cornice that looks good anywhere with above average ceiling heights, it is used mostly in houses built from the 1920s onwards and is especially popular with new builds. If you do not have the ceiling height MPC046 is equally stylish, in a smaller size.

Samples of all our coving are available to order on the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life settings, all these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an accurate impression of how a particular design would look in your own home. It is always surprising just how different the same cornice can look, depending on the style in which a room has been decorated and furnished, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your coving, not only will the finished result be better it should also be cheaper, as they will be able to get more done in a day and that work will be to a higher standard. They will not have problems with walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, or matching a pattern on a corner. All these things are just part of the job especially when working on older houses.

We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in contact if required. If you have any other questions or would like any help or advice please call our customer service number, they will always be happy to talk to you.
