Ripon: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver Plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to Ripon and throughout North Yorkshire at least once a week. We use our own drivers and vans to ensure our coving arrives in good condition. Our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is particularly important on busy or crowded building sites where space can be short and damage can occur after delivery.

We make all our plaster coving and ceiling roses by hand, we use the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times. We make coving in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each one individually hand made, we keep large stocks of finished plaster cornice and ceiling roses, so that we are able to fulfill even the largest orders in a matter of days. Please note if you are ordering cornice off the website, the price is per meter and you should enter the number of meters required, not the number of lengths.

In 1672 St Wilfred founded an abbey in Ripon and from this ecclesiastical beginning Ripon grew to be a prosperous market town, famous for producing the best spurs in England during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The railway arrived in 1848 further increasing Ripon's desirability. With many fine houses dating back to the Georgian period and earlier Ripon has always been a busy area for us. We have worked on the renovations of many of the Victorian and Edwardian houses, one design that has always been popular for these Victorian and Edwardian cornice restorations is swan neck cornice, its name coming from the way in which it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. It was used extensively throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with larger sizes of essentially the same design being used in larger rooms with higher ceilings, whilst the name may be unfamiliar the the design will be recognisable to anybody familiar with houses from that period. 

We have a range of swan neck cornices, one of the larger being LPC017 this is a good size for the higher ceilings of larger detached and semi detached Victorian houses, MPC065 is a smaller size often used in the lower ceilings of upstairs rooms and in more newly built properties with lower ceiling heights where customers want to create an older feel to a room. LPC030 will do everything in between. We have a sample pack of all the different swan neck cornices available on the website. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 will go well with any Victorian cornice or if you would prefer something more ornate LPR072 is a typical Victorian design which once fitted, will look like its been there forever 

We don't just make cornice for older houses, we have a wide range covering all ages and styles of property, designs such as LPC015 a stylish cornice not tied to any specific period that looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights, we have art deco designs like MPC028 a three stepped cornice and a wide range of ceiling roses, with hopefully something for all tastes and styles. 

Samples of all our coving are available off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures sent in by our customers showing our coving and ceiling roses in real life situations. These photographs are the best way to get a true impression of how a particular design would actually look in your own home. It is always surprising just how different the same cornice can look in two rooms depending on the way in which they have been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your coving, not only will the end result be better it should also be cheaper, they can work faster to a higher standard as they will not have difficulties with walls that are not straight or ceilings that are not level or any other of the quirks of working in older properties.
