Richmond upon Thames: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

With large amounts of elegant Victorian and Edwardian housing Richmond has always been a busy area for us, with many of the local builders and tradesmen as customers we deliver at least twice a week, we make all our deliveries using our own vans and drivers, plaster cornice is fragile and needs to be handled carefully, our drivers will carry your coving into your house and make sure it is stacked correctly so that it is in perfect condition when it comes to be fitted.

We still make all our plaster cornice and ceiling roses by hand in exactly the same way they were made in Victorian times, each length of coving or ceiling rose is individually made using the materials and techniques of the past.

Samples of all our designs are available off the individual product pages where you will also find hundreds of photographs of our cornice installed and decorated in a wide range of styles and colours, most of these pictures have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to form an accurate impression of how our coving will actually look once installed in your house, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We have good contacts with local cornice fitters and builders and would always recommend using an experienced installer to fit your cornice, not only will you get a better finish it should also work out cheaper, as they will not experience difficulties with with ceilings that are not level, or walls that are not straight, things that are just part of the job, especially in old houses, which means they are able to fit more coving in a day and fit it to a higher standard.

Whilst it is hard to generalise here are some suggestions of where to start your search based on our experience of which designs are popular in the area. Of the many different samples we send out, these are the designs customers consistently choose. For larger Victorian and Edwardian properties an elegant swan neck cornice such as LPC073 has the right proportions for the larger rooms with their higher ceilings, and to create the same feel but on a smaller scale MPC065 will do the job, for something more ornate LPC019 is perfect for an entrance hall, to complete the room either a plain spun ceiling rose LPR074 or an ornate Victorian design such as LPR060 will both work.

We don't just sell cornice for older properties, although many of our designs are in fact quite old they have not dated at all and most people do not realise how old they actually are, a good example being LPC015 an elegant cornice very often chosen for new build and modern houses.
