Richmond: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to Richmond and the surrounding area at least once a week, we use our own vans and drivers to make deliveries to ensure our cornice arrives in good condition. Our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use. This is important on busy or crowded building sites where space can be short and damage can occur after delivery, if it is not stored safely.

We still use the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, all our coving and ceiling roses are made by hand. Cornice is cast in 8 foot (2.4) lengths, we keep large quantities of finished ceiling roses and cornice in stock allowing us to meet even the largest orders in a matter of days.

With its long history and many fine buildings dating back to Georgian times and earlier, Richmond has always been a busy area for us, plaster cornice became widely used from the beginning of the eighteenth century and we have worked on many of the renovations of period properties in the area.

A popular cornice for many Victorian houses has always been swan neck cornice, the swan neck profile was widely used throughout the Victorian period and through into the Edwardian era. So called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall it will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older houses. We have a number of different sizes to suit different ceiling heights. For the high Victorian ceilings of larger detached and semi detached houses LPC017 is ideal, for the lower ceilings of terraces or to create a Victorian feel in a more modern house MPC065 has smaller proportions. If you need a ceiling rose a plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073 will go well with any Victorian cornice. If you are looking for something more ornate, LPR060 is a classic Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves.

We don't just make plaster cornice for older houses, we have a large range covering all ages and styles of property. Designs such as LPC015, a stylish plain run cornice that looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights, is one of our most popular designs with owners of more modern houses. MPC046 is just as stylish and comes in a smaller size for those rooms where the ceilings are lower.

Samples of all our coving are available off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving and ceiling roses in real life situations, these photos have all been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an impression of how a particular design would really look in your own home. It can be surprising just how different the same cornice can look in two different rooms depending on the way in which they have been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your cornice, they will not have problems with walls that are not straight or ceilings that are not level or corners that are not right angles, these things are all just part of the job and will not cause anybody with experience the slightest difficulty.
