Reading: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving to the Reading area at least twice a week, we have a warehouse in Arundel and are always delivering in the Thames Valley. We use our own vans and drivers to deliver plaster coving to ensure it arrives in good condition, and to keep it that way, our drivers will check that it is handled carefully and stacked safely, ready for when it comes to be used. This is especially important on busy building sites.
All our plaster coving is made by hand, we still use the same materials and techniques used in Victorian times, every length of coving and every ceiling rose is individually moulded, a process from start to finish done entirely by hand.
If you are not sure where to start to look, here are some of our most frequently chosen designs and the types of houses for which they are typically chosen.
Swan Neck Cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall is a classic Victorian design, which continued in use into the Edwardian period and beyond, it is still chosen today for new build houses. Its profile will be instantly recognisable to anybody who likes Victorian houses, we have a full range of sizes, LPC073 and LPC030 are two of the larger sizes and need ceiling heights that are above average to look their best, for ceilings of average height and below MPC065 with give the same Victorian style. LPC015 is an elegant cornice that looks good anywhere that has a ceiling height that is above average, and for lower ceilings MPC051 and MPC046 are always popular, these three are not linked to any particular period they are all just very stylish. If you need a ceiling rose, a plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is always a good choice, or for something more ornate LPR060.
These are just a few examples. We have a full range of cornice for all ages and styles of house, samples of all our cornice can be ordered off the individual product pages where you will also see hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations. Most of these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an impression of what a particular cornice would actually look like, if fitted in your own home. It is always surprising just how different the same cornice can look, depending on the way in which the room has been decorated and furnished.
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the finish be better it should also be cheaper, as they will not have any problems with walls that are not straight and ceilings that are not level, things that are actually just part of the job. They can therefore fit more cornice in a day than the inexperienced, and the coving they do fit will be fitted to a higher standard.
We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch, if you have any other questions or would like any further information, please call our customer services team they will always be happy to talk to you
