Prestwich: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses to the Prestwich area several times a week, we have a warehouse in Stockport just off junction 28 of the M60 so our vans are always in the area. We use our own vans and drivers to deliver our coving to make sure it arrives in good condition, our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites.
As the warehouse is less than half an hours drive from Prestwich many customers prefer to collect their orders, you can also place your order at the warehouse after first looking at the cornice or ceiling roses and then take it away with you all in one visit, you do not have to place your order online first. The warehouse is open 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
We make all our plaster coving and ceiling roses by hand. We still use the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times, plaster cornice is made in 8 foot (2.4 meter) lengths, each one individually cast, as are, all our ceiling roses, a truly handmade product. We keep large quantities of finished plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses in stock, so that we can meet even the largest of orders in a couple of days.
Prestwich grew quickly in the Victorian and Edwardian periods and has a legacy of fine houses from those times. All these houses would have originally had decorative plaster mouldings, plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses, panel mouldings and plaster corbels, along with matching timber mouldings, skirting boards and architraves. Fortunately most of these period details have survived but where they have not we have worked on many of the restorations.
Always popular for Victorian and Edwardian renovations is Swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. We have a range of different sizes LPC017 is one of our larger swan neck cornices and is suitable for the high ceilings of larger Victorian and Edwardian houses, if your ceilings are of average height MPC065 will look good and LPC030 is for anything in between. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 will go well with any swan neck cornice, or for something more ornate LPR060 is a classic Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves. If you need to replace any of your timber mouldings SB009 and ARC002 are a Victorian skirting board and architrave that will match with our larger cornices.
We don't just make coving for older houses, we have a complete range, covering all ages and styles. Designs such as LPC015, a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with higher than average ceilings, it is particularly popular for properties built from the 1920s onwards. If your ceiling heights are lower MPC046 has just as much style in a smaller size.
Samples of all our designs are available on the individual product pages, where you can also find hundreds of pictures of our cornice and ceiling roses in real life situations. These pictures have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get a true impression of how a particular cornice would actually look in your own home. It is surprising how different the same cornice can look depending on how a room has been decorated and furnished, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.
We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your coving, they will not have difficulties with ceilings that are not level, walls that are not straight, coving with a pattern on it or corners that are not right angles. All these things are just part of the job especially when working on older houses. Not only will the job look better it should also be cheaper as they will get more coving put up in a day. We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch if needed.
If you have any other questions or would like any information or advice please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
