Northampton: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to the Northampton area at least twice a week, so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers for deliveries to ensure our coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will check the coving is being handled carefully and that it is stacked safely ready for use. This is especially important on busy or crowded building sites.

We still make all our plaster coving by hand using the same methods and materials that were used in Victorian times, each ceiling rose or length of coving is individually moulded, the whole process from start to finish is done entirely by hand. We keep large amounts of finished coving in stock allowing us to deliver even the biggest order in a matter of days rather than weeks.

In the Victorian period Northampton expanded rapidly as its industry flourished, new houses needed to be built for the ever growing population. All these houses would have originally had plaster coving and ceiling roses, fortunately most of it has survived. Where it has not we have often supplied coving for the restoration work, coving that is made in the same way as the original and once fitted, cannot be told apart.

One of the most widely used designs in the Victorian and Edwardian periods was Swan Neck Coving, so called because it reaches further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, a style that will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older houses. We have a range of different sizes of swan neck coving and they have been a popular choice for restoration projects in Northampton. LPC030 is one of the larger sizes and suitable for rooms with above average ceiling heights, for those with lower ceiling heights MPC065 is the best choice. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a popular choice to go with swan neck cornices.

We don't just make coving for older houses, we have a wide range of designs and aim to cover every age and type of property. LPC015 is a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with average and above ceilings heights and is popular for houses from the Edwardian period onwards, If your ceiling heights are lower MPC046 is another very popular choice.

Samples of all our coving are available from the individual product pages where you will also see hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life settings, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an impression of how a particular design would actually look in your own home. It is surprising just how different the same design can look depending on how the room has been decorated and furnished, samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving not only will the result be better it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, cornice with patterns and corners that are not right angles. All these things are just part of the job especially with older houses, we have good contacts with local tradesmen and can pass on your details.

If you have any questions or would like any further information please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
