Mansfield: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster coving to the Mansfield area at least twice a week,so  there is never long to wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to ensure our coving arrives in good condition, our drivers will check that the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or cramped building sites where damage can occur.

All our plaster coving and ceiling roses are hand made, plaster coving is individually moulded in 8 foot (2.4 metre) lengths and each ceiling rose is individually cast, we use the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, the whole process is completed by hand. If you would like to see a video of one of our ceiling roses being made please follow this link. We keep large amounts of finished coving in stock allowing us to meet even the biggest orders in a matter of days rather than weeks.

Mansfield boomed in the industrial revolution and huge numbers of houses were built in the Victorian period to house the ever growing workforce. All these houses would have had plaster cornice and ceiling roses when they were built and fortunately most of these mouldings have survived. Where they have not we have worked on many of the renovations, one of the most popular cornice styles for these projects has been the swan neck profile.

Swan neck cornice gets its name from the fact it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, It was widely used in the Victorian period and continued in use right through to Edwardian times. The distinctive swan neck profile will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older properties. We have a number of different sizes of swan neck coving, LPC030 is one of the larger sizes and suitable for typical Victorian ceiling heights, that were higher than those for today, for particularly high ceilings LPC017 is one of our biggest sizes, if your ceilings are of average height or lower MPC065 has all the same style but smaller proportions. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a popular choice to go with swan neck coving or if you prefer something more ornate, LPR060 is a fine Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves.

We don't just make coving for older properties we make a full range of designs for all types and styles of house, profiles such as LPC015 a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere that has average and above ceiling heights, this is very popular for properties built from the 1920s onwards. If your ceilings are lower, MPC046 has just as much style and smaller proportions.

Samples of all our coving can be ordered off the individual product pages, these pages also have hundreds of pictures of our coving in real life situations, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an idea of how a design would actually look in your own home. It is always surprising how different the same cornice can look depending on how a room has been decorated and furnished.

We would suggest you use experienced coving fitters to fit your cornice, not only will the result be better it should also be cheaper. Experienced fitters will have no problems with walls that are not straight ceilings that are not level, corners that are not right angles or coving with a pattern on it, all these things are just part of the job, especially when working on older houses. This means they can fit more coving in a day and that the coving they do fit, will be food to a higher standard.

We have good contacts with local tradesmen and can put you in touch. If you have any other questions or would like any other information, please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
