Dorchester: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to Dorchester and the surrounding area a minimum of once a week so there is never long to wait after placing an order, we have a warehouse in Arundel and our vans are often in the area. We use our own vans and drivers to make deliveries, our drivers will check the coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready to be used, this is very important on busy building sites where space can be short and damage can occur.

All our plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses are handmade, we still use the same materials and techniques that were used by the Victorians. Cornice is moulded in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths, each ceiling rose is also individually cast. We keep large quantities of finished cornice and ceiling roses in stock so that we are able to deliver even the largest orders from stock within a couple of days.

Popular in Victorian properties has been swan neck cornice, so called because it reaches further across the ceiling than it extends down the wall, it will be familiar to all owners of Victorian houses. Swan neck cornice continued in use through into the Edwardian period, we have a range of swan neck profiles, such as LPC030 suitable for ceilings of above average height and MPC065 for ceilings of a lower more average height. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 goes well with any Victorian cornice, if you are looking for something more ornate LPR060 is a period Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves.

We don't just make plaster coving for older houses, we make a complete range covering all ages and styles of property. For more modern houses LPC015 is a favourite, a stylish plain run cornice that looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights it is particularly popular for houses built from the 1930s onwards. If you do not have the ceiling height, MPC046 is just as stylish in a smaller size.

These photographs are the best way to get an idea of how a particular ceiling rose or cornice would actually look in your own home. It is always surprising just how different the same cornice can look depending on the way in which the rooms have been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive and will usually come the next day if ordered early in the morning.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your coving, not only will the finish be better it should also be cheaper too, they will not have difficulties with walls that are not straight or ceilings that are not level, corners that are not right angles or coving with a pattern on it. All these things are just part of the job especially when working on older houses. It is possible to fit it yourself as long as you are careful and take it slowly, and we have videos on the website that will help you do this.
