Christchurch: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and Plaster ceiling roses to Christchurch and the surrounding area at least once a week, we have a warehouse in Arundel and many customers along the south coast so there is never long to wait for a delivery. We use our own vans and drivers for deliveries to make sure our products arrive in good condition, our drivers will check that coving is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where space can be short and damage can occur.

We still make all our plaster cornice and ceiling roses by hand, using the same materials and techniques used in Victorian time. Coving is made in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each one individually moulded, our ceiling roses too are each made by hand. We keep large quantities of finished coving and ceiling roses in stock so that we are able to meet even the largest orders in a couple of days. Christchurch’s population has increased tenfold since the beginning of the twentieth century, which means compared to some areas there is a much smaller proportion of Victorian and earlier properties with most houses being Edwardian or later. For the Victorian and Edwardian ones, swan neck cornice has always been a popular choice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall, it is also frequently chosen for more modern houses where a more traditional interior is desired.

We have a range of sizes, MPC065 is suitable for average height ceilings or for the higher ceilings of Victorian or Edwardian houses LPC017 is a larger size. A plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073 will go well with any plain cornice and is a good choice to complement any of the swan necks.

We have a range of styles and designs that are not tied to any particular period, such as LPC015 which will bring elegance to any room with average and above ceiling heights, MPC046 is equally effective for those with lower ceilings. We have Art Deco designs such as MPC028, a three step cornice full of 1930s style which will transform any room in which it is fitted. 

Samples of all our cornices are available off the individual product pages, these pages also feature hundreds of pictures of our coving and ceiling roses in real life settings, all these photographs have been sent in by our customers. They show how the same cornice or ceiling roses can look completely different depending upon the way in which a room has been decorated and furnished, and are a great way to get inspiration and to see how a particular design would actually look in your own home. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your cornice, not only will the end result be better it should also be cheaper. Experienced fitters will not have trouble with bay windows, walls that are not straight or ceilings that are not level, all these things are just normal parts of the job.
