Birmingham: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We supply handcrafted plaster coving and ceiling roses throughout Birmingham multiple times per week using our own delivery vehicles. By handling deliveries ourselves we can ensure every order reaches you in excellent condition. Our drivers understand how delicate plaster mouldings can be and take care to make sure everything is unloaded and stored correctly.

Every moulding we produce is still made using traditional victorian methods that have changed very little over the last century. Each length of coving is individually cast by hand in 2.4 metre (8ft) sections, and every ceiling rose is produced one at a time. Because we manufacture and stock a wide range of designs, we can always fulfil both small and large orders without lengthy lead times.

Birmingham's housing tells the story of one of Britain's fastest-growing industrial cities. Rapid expansion created thousands of terraced homes for the city's growing workforce, while some suburbs saw the construction of elegant villas and larger semi-detached houses for factory owners.

This rich variety means Birmingham contains almost every style of British home, from ornate Victorian properties with original decorative plasterwork to modern family houses where homeowners may want to introduce classic architectural character.

One of the most authentic choices for period restoration is the classic swan neck cornice, so called as it's profile projects further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. It remains one of the most requested designs for restoring original features throughout Birmingham. For larger detached and semi-detached Victorian houses with generous ceiling heights, LPC017 provides the bold proportions these rooms were designed for. Properties with more typical ceiling heights are often better suited to LPC030, while MPC065 offers a similar Victorian appearance on a slightly smaller scale.

A plain spun ceiling rose such as an LPR074 complements swan neck cornices well, while those seeking something more ornate often choose an LPR060.

Decorative plasterwork isn't limited to period properties. LPC015 is a versatile cornice  that works particularly well in rooms with average or above-average ceiling heights. For more modern interiors or homes where a smaller profile is preferred, MPC051 and MPC046 provide a clean finish without overwhelming the room. MPC028 offers a stepped art deco design that reflects the architectural styles popular during the 1920s and 1930s.

Samples are available for all of our plaster cornices, allowing you to compare profiles before placing a full order. Each product page also includes photographs from genuine customer installations, giving you an idea of how each design looks in different settings.

Plaster coving is best fitted by experienced installers, particularly in Birmingham's older housing where uneven walls are common. Skilled fitters know how to overcome these challenges, resulting in a cleaner finish and often a faster, more cost-effective installation.

If you are looking for trusted local tradespeople, we are always happy to recommend experienced plaster cornice installers. Should you need advice on selecting the most suitable profile for your home or have any questions about our products, our customer service team will be pleased to help.
