Location:
Market Drayton, Shropshire
Background:
Chelsea’s Victorian townhouse has been carefully renovated from top to bottom. The family bathroom was the final major project on the list. While it’s not the space used for everyday routines, Chelsea wanted it to feel generous and calming, a room to switch off in. With a freestanding bath at the centre and coving added for period detail, the bathroom now feels considered, elegant and in tune with the rest of the house.
A closer look at Chelsea’s journey...
What inspired your home renovation project, and what vision did you have in mind for the space?
Our family bathroom is the last big project to complete in our home that has been through a full renovating. It’s the only bathroom that has a bath and so I wanted that to take centre stage. It isn’t the place we get ready everyday and so I wanted it to feel like a luxurious, spacious room to relax and unwind in.
What made you choose plaster ceiling roses for your property, and how have our products enhanced the overall look?
Last year we bought beautiful coving from Plaster Ceiling Roses for our kitchen renovation. I did a quite a bit of research and found them to have a wide selection and good prices. I was extremely happy with the product and service, so it just made sense to go back
Can you describe the style and period of your property?
We live in a Victorian Townhouse. It still has a lot of original features that we have done our best to maintain whilst modernising.
Were there any particular challenges you faced during the renovation process, and how did you overcome them?
The layout was a challenge in here as we wanted to fit in a shower and a bath. We went around it for quite a while and tried a lot of different options. In the end we compromised prioritised the bath went without the shower and couldn’t be happier (we have 2 other showers in the house so wasn’t essential)
What made you choose our coving?
I love the simplicity of the style but the drama of the height. It’s a wow feature but it isn’t overwhelming to take over other features.
Who installed your coving?
Our bathroom fitter, ‘The Bearded Bathroom Specialist’ who is very much a ‘Jack of all trades!’
Before & After:
What was once a functional but unremarkable space has become a calm and characterful bathroom with details that reflect the house’s Victorian roots. The coving frames the room without competing with the bold bath and clean lines, tying old and new together seamlessly.
Products Used:
LPC017 - Large Swan Neck Coving
Final Thoughts:
Chelsea’s renovation is a great guide of how subtle architectural features can shift the tone of a space. In this case, coving helped elevate a modern bathroom into something that sits naturally within a period home, without overwhelming it.
