Location:
Cressington, Liverpool
Background:
For Anna, the renovation of her 1930s family home in Cressington was as much about preserving memories as it was about updating the space. Having grown up in the house herself and knowing it was once her mother’s childhood home, she approached the project with care and intention. By blending traditional features with considered modern touches, she’s managed to create a space that honours the home’s past while making it feel fresh and personal. Adding a decorative plaster ceiling rose was one of the details that helped bring that vision together.
A Closer Look at Anna’s Journey...

What inspired your home renovation project, and what vision did you have in mind for the space?
My renovation was inspired by the deep personal connection I have to the house- it’s been in my family for generations. It was my childhood home, and before that, it belonged to my mum when she was growing up. I wanted to honour its history while giving it a fresh lease of life. My vision was to create a timeless, characterful space that blends traditional charm with thoughtful modern updates.

What made you choose plaster ceiling roses for your property, and how have our products enhanced the overall look?
Ceiling roses instantly elevate a space, and I knew they would help bring back the period details the house deserved. I wanted to add something that felt authentic, elegant, and true to the character of the property. Your designs were perfect - full of depth, beautifully made, and incredibly detailed. They’ve added that final, polished touch to the rooms and really draw the eye upwards, especially in spaces with higher ceilings.
Can you describe the style and period of your property?
It’s a traditional 1930s semi-detached home in Liverpool. The house still retains many of its original features, including stained glass windows and beautiful wood panelling throughout the hall and landing. It also has bay windows and picture rails, which we’ve worked hard to preserve and enhance as part of the renovation.

Were there any particular challenges you faced during the renovation process, and how did you overcome them?
Like many older properties, we uncovered a few surprises along the way. Balancing the old with the new has definitely been a challenge, especially during our large extension. We overcame these with a brilliant team of tradespeople, a lot of patience and hard work

What made you choose our products?
I chose this particular ceiling rose because of its classic design - it felt perfectly in keeping with the house’s style. I also loved that it had enough detail to feel special without overwhelming the room. The craftsmanship really stood out, and I was confident it would look like an original feature. The ceiling roses also beautifully enhance the lighting fixtures throughout our home, adding an extra layer of elegance and helping each fitting feel more intentional and finished.

Who installed your rose / coving?
We installed the ceiling rose ourselves - it was surprisingly straightforward and really satisfying to do. The team at 'Plaster Ceiling Roses' sent me a helpful link to one of their video's - showing how professional installs a rose, step by step. This is very helpful for anyone considering it. The rose made such a difference once it was up and felt like a proud finishing touch to the space.
Before & After:
The rooms have transformed from simple spaces into more considered ones, full of thoughtful period details. The ceiling rose added an elegant focal point that connects to the home’s original features, like the stained glass and woodwork, tying the look together without feeling forced.

Final Thoughts:
Anna’s renovation shows how small architectural elements can make a meaningful impact. By adding a ceiling rose that reflects the home’s original character, she has helped bridge the past and present in a way that feels honest to the space and personal to her.
