Location: Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire
In a quiet corner of Hertfordshire’s historically significant Letchworth Garden City, Alana @delve.interiors set out to restore the soul of her cottage.
The era of her house (Edwardian) is the biggest factor when it came to her design choices. A lot of rich dark colours were used in that period. She’s also influenced by historical architecture and loves renaissance art.
The Project: Make a statement!
Inside the renovation:
What inspired your home renovation project, and what vision did you have in mind for the space?
"Drawing influence from the rich tones of the era and my love for Renaissance art, I wanted to carefully reintroduce traditional details into our interior."
"There was a lot more work needed than we first thought with dangerous electrical problems and woodworm in a lot of the house. We had to strip the rooms back to a shell and treat the problems that way."
What made you choose plaster ceiling roses for your property, and how have our products enhanced the overall look?
"Plaster coving and ceiling roses played a central role in shaping the home’s look - additions that gave each room a sense of depth and connection to the past."
"Plaster Ceiling Roses had the best range of products when it came to both cornice and ceiling roses. It seems a smaller detail but the impact a ceiling rose and cornice has on a room is huge. It adds so much character and interest."
Which Products did you chose?
"We went for Swan Neck cornice throughout our home. We don’t have soaring ceilings like some Edwardian and Victorian properties so I wanted something relatively simple to finish the room. The ceiling roses are nature-inspired designs that echo the decor I have throughout the rest of the house."
Alana’s chosen Renaissance inspired wallpaper, which is truly magnificent for her dining room ceiling. Alana paired this with our Plain Acanthus 610mm MPR061 and elegant plaster Swan Neck coving MPC065.

Before & After:
This renovation wasn’t cosmetic—it was a rescue mission. What started as a design-led refresh turned into essential structural work. Once the critical repairs were handled, Alana focused on reinstating elegance with ceiling details that speak to the home’s Edwardian roots. Now, each room feels like it belongs to a different century—anchored by a thoughtful mix of dark, moody tones, stunning wallpaper and classical plasterwork.
