A hallway glow-up... How to add LEDs to your coving

A hallway glow-up... How to add LEDs to your coving

Have you ever thought of combining coving with LED strip lighting? @the_edwardian_renovation have done just that and the results are spectacular.

Their cornice of choice is our ‘Victorian Entrance Hall coving’, 175mm drop, code LPC019. This magnificent large enriched Victorian cornice features Acanthus leaves supported by finely cast modillions, also richly decorated with scrolls and an ‘Egg and Dart’ moulding with a Dentil course below. Measuring 250mm across its face, this is a very large cornice and would have been used in the grandest of Victorian properties.

Annie and her husband undertook this hallway project themselves. They admit it was hard work and quite time consuming... but definitely worth it. Their hallway radiates elegance, and the lighting creates a warm and cozy atmosphere.

The possibilities are truly endless for transforming your space with the graceful touch of coving combined with the inviting glow of LED lights. In this blog, we’ll give you a guide on how to seamlessly integrate our coving with an LED strip.

• Select the coving and LED strip: Begin by choosing the coving design and LED strip that complements your room’s interior style. With a variety of options available, opt for the ones that align with your aesthetic preferences and budget.

• Plan the setup: Strategise the installation by measuring the coving and LED strip lengths required. Mark the installation points on the wall or ceiling. Ensure safety by turning off the electrical supply before commencing the setup.

• Fix the coving: Prepare the installation surface by clearing any debris. Apply adhesive to the back of the coving and affix it meticulously to the marked points. Secure the coving in place using appropriate fasteners. Allow time for the adhesive to set before proceeding. Detailed videos are available on our website.

• Install the LED strip: With the coving securely in place, insert the LED strip into it. Cut the LED strip to match the coving’s dimensions. Peel off the adhesive backing and affix the strip inside the coving.

• Connect the LED strip: Power the LED strip by connecting it to a transformer or driver to convert AC power to DC power. Strip the wire ends, ensuring correct polarity when connecting to the transformer to prevent any electrical issues.

• Test the setup: Switch on the power supply to test the LED strip’s functionality. Verify that the strip illuminates correctly, signaling a successful installation.
