Reigate: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses
We deliver plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses to Reigate and the surrounding area around twice a week, so there is never long to wait after placing an order. We have many customers in areas such as Redhill, Tadworth, Merstham and Horley. We use our own vans and drivers for delivery to ensure everything arrives in good condition, our drivers will check cornice is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.
We still make all our plaster coving and ceiling roses by hand using the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, cornice is made in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each one individually moulded as are all our ceiling roses, these are genuinely handmade products. We keep large quantities of finished coving and ceiling roses in stock so that we can meet even the largest orders in a matter of days.
Reigate has a long history dating back to Norman times, it was however transformed by the arrival of the railway in the mid nineteenth century, this improved connectivity to London brought with it, a change from a predominantly agricultural area to a desirable commuter town. Today, Reigate has many fine Victorian and Edwardian houses and has long been a busy area for us. All of these houses would have originally have had a full set of decorative plaster and timber mouldings, fortunately most of these have survived, where they have not, we have worked on many of the restorations. Always popular on these projects has been swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further down the wall than it does across the ceiling. This distinctive design was used throughout the Victorian period and into Edwardian times, the swan neck profile will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with older houses. We have a number of different sizes, LPC073 being one of the bigger ones and suitable for the high ceilings of larger Victorian detached and semi detached houses, LPC030 and MPC065 are smaller sizes for above average and average ceiling heights respectively. A plain spun ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a popular choice with any of the swan neck cornices, or for something more ornate LPR060 is a classic Victorian design featuring Acanthus leaves. If you also need to replace skirting boards and architraves we have original Victorian designs that complement our plaster cornice SB009 and ARC002 are large authentic Victorian skirting boards and architrave.
We don't just make plaster coving for older houses, we have a full range of designs to cover all ages and styles of property, designs such as LPC015, a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere with average and above ceiling heights. It is particularly popular for properties from the 1920s onwards and is frequently chosen for new builds, if you do not have the ceiling height MPC046 is just as stylish with smaller proportions.
Samples of all our cornice are available off the individual product pages, also on these pages are hundreds of pictures showing our coving in real life settings, these photographs have been sent in by our customers and are the best way to get an idea of how a particular cornice would actually look in your own home. It is surprising just how different the same cornice can look depending on the way in which a room has been furnished and decorated.
We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the end result be better it should also be cheaper, they will not have problems with walls that are not straight, ceilings that are not level, coving with a pattern on it, or corners that are not right angles. All these things are just part of the job, especially on older houses and will cause competent fitters no difficulties whatsoever.
We have good relations with local tradesmen and can put you in contact, if you have any other questions or would like any other information or advice please give our customer services team a call they will be happy to talk to you.
