Newark: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to Newark and the surrounding area at least once a week, so there is never a long wait for delivery after placing an order. We always use our own vans and drivers to deliver coving so we can be sure it arrives in good condition, our drivers will also check it is handled carefully and stacked safely, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where space can be short and damage can occur.

We still use the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times, cornice is moulded in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each ceiling rose is also individually moulded. We keep large stocks of finished cornice and ceiling roses so that we can meet even the largest of orders in a couple of days.

With many fine houses Newark has always been a busy area for us, in the eighteenth century Newark was a major stop on the Great North Road, grand coaching inns and an elegant market place were built. In the nineteenth century Newark saw wealth generated from the malting and brewing industries when it was one of the largest centers in the country. The wealth generated in both the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries led to the building of Newark's fine Georgian and Victorian houses and public buildings.

We have worked on the restoration of many of Newark's Victorian properties, always popular for these Victorian renovations is Swan neck cornice, so called because it extends further across the ceiling than it does down the wall. Swan neck cornice was used extensively throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods, LPC017 is one of our larger sizes and suitable for the high ceilings of Victorian detached and larger semi detached houses, smaller versions of essentially the same design were used in smaller rooms or those with lower ceilings, MPC065 is a smaller size that is often used in the upstairs rooms of older houses where the ceilings are lower or in more modern houses to create a period interior. A plain spun ceiling rose such as MPR073 will go well with any swan neck or Victorian cornice, if you are looking for something more ornate LPR026 is a fine Victorian ceiling rose featuring a sunflower design.

We don't just make plaster coving and ceiling roses for older houses, we make a full range covering all ages and types of property, from Art Deco stepped cornices such as MPC028 to LPC015 a stylish cornice that looks good anywhere, with a ceiling of average height and above. It is surprising how different the same cornice or ceiling rose can look depending on the way the various rooms have been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced fitters to install your cornice, not only will the end result be better, it should also be cheaper, they will not have problems with ceilings that are not level or walls that are not straight, or mitres that are not ninety degrees, all these things are just part of the job, especially when working on older houses where few things are straight or level.
