Knaresborough: Plaster Coving, Cornice and Ceiling Roses

We deliver plaster cornice and plaster ceiling roses to the Knaresborough area and throughout North Yorkshire at least once a week, so there is never a long wait after placing an order. We use our own vans and drivers to make deliveries to ensure our coving is handled carefully and arrives in good condition. Our drivers will check that cornice is handled carefully and stacked safely ready for use, this is especially important on busy or crowded building sites where damage can occur.

We still make our our plaster coving and plaster ceiling roses by hand using the same materials and techniques that were used in Victorian times, plaster coving is moulded in 8 foot (2.4M) lengths each piece individually made, all our plaster ceiling roses are also individually moulded by hand. We keep a large stock of finished coving and ceiling roses so that we are able to meet even the largest orders in days rather than weeks.

Knaresborough has a fine mix of Victorian and older properties along with high quality newer developments. We have worked on the restoration of many of these Victorian houses and for these renovations certain designs are always popular. Styles such as swan neck cornice, a Victorian classic so called because it reaches further across the ceiling than it extends down the wall, a design that will be instantly recognisable to anybody familiar with older properties. Swan neck cornice continued in use through into the Edwardian period and we make a number of different sizes suitable for all different ceiling heights. LPC018 is one of the larger sizes and ideal for the high ceilings of larger Victorian detached and semi detached houses. LPC030 and MPC065 are two smaller sizes with the right proportions for above average and average height ceilings respectively, a plain spun plaster ceiling rose such as LPR074 is a good choice to go with any swan neck cornice, or if you would prefer something more ornate LPR060 is an original Victorian design featuring acanthus leaves. 

We don't just make plaster cornice for older properties we have a wide range, covering all ages and types of houses, designs such as LPC015 a stylish cornice which is popular with customers with ceiling heights of average and above. It is a stylish design that looks good in properties of all ages, though is particularly popular with owners of houses built from the 1920s onwards, it is also frequently chosen for new builds. Should you not have the ceiling height, MPC046 is just as stylish with smaller proportions.

Samples of all our coving can be ordered off the individual product pages, these pages also show hundreds of pictures of our coving and ceiling roses in real life situations, these photographs have been sent in by our customers, and are the best way to get an impression of how a particular cornice or ceiling rose would really look in your own home. It is always surprising how different the same rose or cornice can look in different pictures depending on the style in which the room has been decorated and furnished. Samples only take a couple of days to arrive.

We would suggest you use experienced cornice fitters to install your coving, not only will the finished result be better it should also be cheaper. They will not have problems with walls that are not straight or ceilings that are not level not to mention corners that are not right angles, these are all things that are accepted parts of the job especially when working on older houses. It is also possible to fit it yourself as long as you are careful and take it slowly and we have some installation videos on the website that should help.
