Here is an original Victorian cornice design. The ogee profile is was seen everywhere in the Victorian period - furniture, internal timber mouldings such as skirting boards & architraves and staircases. In fact almost anything made out of wood and incorporated into a Victorian home. It was also used in external architectural details such as door surrounds, decorative brick courses, coping stones and pillar caps

This design is slightly unusual in that it has a projection of 120mm and a drop of 100mm, meaning that it extends further across the ceiling than it extends down the wall. It also has a little more detail than many ogee coving designs, with a plain cove running across the top of the cornice and a curved moulding running along the bottom.

We have high quality pine ogee skirting boards and ogee architrave to match in our timber mouldings section such as SB009 and ARC001

This cornice is ideal for restoring Victorian and Edwardian houses, particularly terraced and semi-detached houses, where it has the right proportions for their typical ceiling heights. Although a classic Victorian and Edwardian cornice, this is one of those cornices that will not look out of place in any age of property.

A Plain spun ceiling rose, such as LPR074. It's a popular and traditional choice to go with an ogee cornice such as this.

We still make all our plaster coving by hand, each length is individually moulded using the same techniques and materials that were used in Victorian times.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I ORDER?

If you measure your plaster coving needs and order an exact amount, one wall could end up being finished in small off-cuts. To avoid this, we recommend you order 15% extra to ensure longer lengths are used wherever possible, as this will create a better finish. This coving comes in 2.4m lengths.
