About PlasterCeilingRoses.com

Plaster Ceiling Roses is owned and run by Chris Jones, who has a background in manufacturing and it was this experience that led to the formation of Plasterceilingroses.com as he explains below.

It all started with a self build project

‘Several years ago I started on a project to build my own house; I have always admired Georgian architecture and wanted to build in the Georgian style as faithfully as I could. I found the original drawings of a house designed by the Scottish architect Colen Campbell in the 1720’s and decided to rebuild this as accurately as possible, with over 400 tonnes of cut stone alone required it was essential to keep a very keen eye on costs.

One area where I thought the costs were way over what was reasonable was the plaster coving, I needed 400 meters of coving along with ceiling roses and panel mouldings, the coving design chosen by my architect whilst very stylish was £40 per metre, which would have brought my total cost for plaster alone to around £20,000 without installation. We now sell this same design for £10 per metre.

I have a lot of experience of plastic injection moulding where I used to design my own components and have my own tooling made to produce them, these were then manufactured in very large quantities, moulding in plaster it seemed to me, could not be any more complicated and certainly much cheaper.

Just as I had with plastic mouldings, I had my own moulds made for the coving I required and went on to manufacture it. This went well and after quickly selling of the surplus from my own project I realised there was a huge gap for high quality reasonably priced real plaster coving. We now produce a range of plaster coving, cornice and ceiling roses that covers most periods and styles, we are adding new designs all the time and are able to reproduce bespoke designs for customers if required.

Traditional service in the 21st century

From that starting point the company has gone from strength to strength. We are involved in projects ranging from a 900-bedroom hotel refurbishment in Central London, to new builds and period property restorations all over the country.

Why have we grown so quickly? Apart from concentrating on delivering a wide and increasing range of high quality period designs, I think it is down to nothing more than ‘good old fashioned service’. We genuinely like what we do, we know the quality of the products we sell, and most importantly we believe shopping via the internet should not be cold and impersonal.

Our knowledge and experience means we are always ready and willing to help with any questions our customers may have regarding the types of property they are working on. We always welcome feedback about our products and the service we provide, also pictures if you have them, so we can show new customers what our coving looks like in real life situations.

We have now worked with many talented installers and decorators and may be able to recommend tradesmen in your area. If you are a tradesman and have fitted our coving if you can send us pictures of your work, we may be able pass your details on to our customers because as our business grows we're also on the lookout for new talent.

Thank you to all our customers for your continued support and interest in the website.
